Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish
This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic is: Top ten things on my bookish bucket list

  1. Read 52 books in a year - I am trying to do this this year and I think I will succeed based on how many books I've read so far.
  2. Write more book reviews - I want to post more reviews here on this blog and share my opinion with you.
  3. Participate in more read-a-thons - I participated in booktubeathon (I didn't make videos but did participate), christmas booktubeathon (Same thing, no videos but still participated), and the Bout of Books 9.0 read-a-thon. These read-a-thons were a lot of fun so I definitely want to participate in more.
  4. Have a small number of books on my TBR shelf - I own so many books that I haven't read and I really need to get on that.
  5. Get a book signed by John Green - This would just make me so happy.
  6. Read books by the authors from my "top ten popular authors I've never read" list from a past Top Ten Tuesday.
  7. Participate in a book club - I think it sounds like it could be fun.
  8. Go to a convention - such as BEA
  9. Have a library area in my house - It would be so nice to have a room with bookshelves and comfy chairs to read in.
  10. Get an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of a book - I think it would be so cool to be able to read a book I'm excited about before it's out for the public to buy and read.

Book to Movie Comparison: Divergent

The book Divergent is a dystopian novel. In this world the city of Chicago is divided into factions and when you are 16 you take a test that helps you decide which faction to chose to live in for the rest of your life. When the main character Beatrice (Tris) Prior takes her test, she receives some interesting results and makes a surprising faction choice.

Divergent

The movie Divergent came out in theaters in the United States on March 21, 2014 and was directed by Neil Burger. The main character, Tris, is played by Shailene Woodley.

Here are my thoughts (Contains Spoilers):
I was so excited to see this movie! I loved the book when I read it. You can find my book review here if you are interested. I gave the book 5 out of 5 stars and I give this move 4 out of 5 stars.

It was a good movie by itself, but when compared to the book there was so many differences that weren't really necessary.

There were a lot of things from the book that they did include. Tris's mom cutting her hair at the beginning, the zipline, but there was a lot that wasn't included or was changed.

The first thing that really bothered me was Shailene's hair. In the book, Tris's hair is blonde and Shailene's hair wasn't what I pictured at all. I know this is probably just me being picky, but her hair is brown and even with highlights it still looked brown and not blonde. It wouldn't have been difficult for her to dye her hair. Again, probably me being picky.

Second, what happened to visiting day? In the book Tris's mother comes to see her on visiting day, in the movie she just shows up. And she doesn't even tell Tris to go see her brother, Caleb. Tris just randomly decides to go see him. This is something that could have been fixed by adding one or two more sentences in when Tris and her mother are talking.

Edward's eye didn't get stabbed, they didn't show all of Tris's fears, and no dauntless cake? They left out Uriah and Al's crush on Tris. Tris wasn't the first person to fight in the book, she wasn't allowed to fight the first time because there were too many people. The ferris wheel scene was shorted, Tris wasn't practicing throwing knifes without a knife first. So many things didn't happen!

The worst thing they changed is the ending. Four was supposed to be on the computer helping control the simulation, but he was in one of the simulation chair, just sitting there, while the Erudite are controlling everything. Some parts of the second one aren't going to make sense now because they changed this. During capture the flag in the book they used paintball guns not these guns that feel like a real bullet hits you.

All of the changes were just so unnecessary.

Do I recommend seeing this movie? Yes, I think you should see it. Just don't expect it to be exactly like he book. Like I said before the movie by itself is great, but when compared to the book it just wasn't what I had hoped for. But, the book is always better than the movie anyway.

Review: Boots Botanics Ionic Clay Mask #powerofplants

I received Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask Complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

I like clay masks because they are good for helping get rid of blackheads and I tend to have a lot around my nose. I have tried this mask several times since receiving it and I like it so far. It applied very well and It didn't dry my skin out too much. I think clay masks can be very drying sometimes, but this one wasn't too bad. It also didn't take long to dry on my face and was easy to remove afterwards. It made my skin feel very smooth.

To use this product I simply squeezed a small amount out of the bottle and onto my fingers. I then applied the product to my freshly cleansed face with clean hands. I waited about ten minutes for the mask to dry then I washed it off with warm water.

I would like to try more from this brand in the future.

Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish Blog
Hello everyone! I thought I would participate in Top Ten Tuesday this week. I've see other people's post with Top Ten Tuesday and thought it looked fun and that I would give it a try. This week's topic is: top ten popular authors I've never read, so here they are in no particular order:

  1. Lauren Oliver - I do own Delirium by Lauren Oliver, but I have not read it yet
  2. Markus Zusak - I don't own any of his books, and I'm not planning to read them. They just don't seem interesting to me.
  3. Cassandra Clare - I own City of Bones and I plan on reading it sometime soon. If I like it I will most likely read the rest of The Mortal Instruments series and probably the Infernal Devices series as well.
  4. Maggie Stiefvater - I don't own any of her books, I might buy one someday.
  5. Kami Garcia - I own the first two books in the Caster Chronicles series and I do plan on reading them soon, but there's just too many books and too little time!
  6. Laini Taylor - I don't own any of her books, but I've heard really good things about them.
  7. Ransom Riggs - Again, I don't own any of his books, but I've heard good things.
  8. Rainbow Rowell - I've heard really great things about her books, but I don't own any.
  9. Stephanie Perkins - Also heard good things about, but don't own. I would like to read her books though, they sound interesting.
  10. Marie Lu - I've heard great things about the Legend trilogy. I don't own them, but they sound interesting and seem like they might be something I would like.
