February Favorites 2015

Here are all of the things that I have been loving during the month of February:

Beauty:
  • Essie nail polish in the color Go Overboard - I branched away from my usual red color this month. This is a gorgeous deep blue color that I feel is perfect for the winter season.
  • Herbal Essences Hydralicious shampoo - my hair gets super dry and gross during the winter, so I've been using this shampoo. It definitely hydrates my hair which is fantastic and just what my hair needed.
Food/Drink:
  • Nacho Cheese Tortilla Pringles - I didn't even know that they had these until recently, and they have become my go to snack. They are tortilla chips in the normal pringle shape and packaging with nacho cheese flavor on them. Delicious!
  • Good Mythical Morning mug - I love watching Rhett and Link's Good Mythical Morning show on youtube (if you haven't seen them, you should really check them out they are fantastic) and this month I ordered myself their mug. I have been using it so much and I love to watch their web show with a drink in hand.
Book:
  • The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead - I felt like this was a fantastic ending to the series. I am so sad that this series has come to an end, but I'm looking forward to the new things that I'm sure Richelle Mead has in store for all of us :)
Random!
  • Universal Studios Minion lanyard & Minion Key Chain - My best friend got these for me for Christmas and I use them for my keys and school id, they are way cuter than the lanyards that the school provided. They are meant for pin collecting, but they are perfect for my keys :)

Top Ten Favorite Heroines

Top Ten Tuesday was created by: The Broke and the Bookish
Top Ten Favorite Heroines
  1. Hazel from John Green's book The Fault In Our Stars - Hazel is a character that people can very easily relate to and I feel that she is a good role model for people. She is not a hero because she has cancer but because she accepts the way that she is and does try to live her life even though she is suffering with cancer.
  2. Rose Hathaway from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead - Rose is just an awesome, kick-butt character.
  3. Sydney Sage from the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead - Sydney is an awesome character because she doesn't necessarily follow what other people want her to believe. Instead she forms her own opinions about things and really becomes her own person by the end of the series.
  4. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins - You just have got to love Katniss in this series. She is a fighter who stands up for what she believes in.
  5. Pia from Origin by Jessica Khoury - Pia has been told one thing all her life and the way she handles finding out the truth about corpus makes her one of my favorites.
  6. Tally Youngblood from Scott Westerfeld's Uglies series - Tally goes through so much throughout this series and the point she reaches in the end compared to the beginning is amazing.
  7. Tris from the Divergent series by Veronica Roth - We all know what Tris had to go through and she was a courageous self-thinker from the beginning all the way to the end.
  8. Penny from Zoe Sugg's book Girl Online - Penny is inspiring because even though she has anxiety and panic attacks she still does amazing things.
  9. Ginny from 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson - Ginny was a great character because she was given an opportunity and she took it and rolled with it
  10. Cassia from the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie - Cassie is so easy to relate to and she changes a lot from the beginning of the series to the end.

Fake Friends vs True Friends

Today I want to talk about fake friends. We all have them. Those people who only care about you when they need something from you. People who are never truly happy for your accomplishments unless of course they can one up you. Or someone you have to be friends with simply because you live so close to they that it would be miserable if you were enemies.
Going away to college has made me realize who my true friends are and who my fake ones are. I am very tired of feeling like I have to simply put up with the people I am surrounded by in order for everyone else to be happy. I want to be happy too, but nobody else seems to feel the need to try as hard as I do. I'm tired of fake friends and being a fake friend. It is very difficult to live your life with a smile on your face and laughing at things you don't actually find funny.
So why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we let the fake friends take over our lives when there are so many people out there that could be a true friend to us. I feel like the answer is not a simple one. We tend to do what is easiest for us in the moment, even if it hurts us in the long run. So, that might mean putting on an act around the people who you have to deal with on a daily basis. The people you call "friends."
I think the key is to be aware of who your true friends are. I know who my true friends are. They make sure to include me in stuff, they don't ignore me or interrupt me every time I speak. They actually remember what I tell them unlike some people who I know. I can talk to them about anything and it isn't weird or awkward. It is just normal. And even though I don't get to see them as often as I would like to, when I do get to see them it's like I had never left.
I am very thankful that I have a best friend like this and I hope everyone can find someone who is as wonderful as my best friend is.

Book Related Problems I Have

Top Ten Tuesday was created by: The Broke and the Bookish
Top Ten Book Related Problems I Have:

  1. Starting too many books at once - I always have so many books started and jump from one to another, I wish that I could just start one and finish it but it never seems to work out that way.
  2. Buying too many books - I think everyone feels like they buy too many books.
  3. Having no space to put books - I live in a very small house with my parents and I currently just have a tiny bookshelf to fit my collection on and they don't all fit on the shelf anymore. Many of my books now sit on a pile on my floor.
  4. Liking fictional boys more than real guys - So I tend to compare the guys I meet to characters in the books I read, even though I know that there is no way the boys will live up to the unrealistic expectations that authors have created. I just can't help wishing for a real life Augustus Waters!
  5. Wanting the collector's edition of books - Even if I already own the book and have read it, I still have to get the collector's edition.
  6. Wanting to buy book related merch - If I see merch of a book that I really like, I always want to get it.
  7. Owning too many bookmarks - I have way too many bookmarks, yet I still buy more.
  8. Quoting books irl - If there comes a moment in my daily life when I can quote a book, you better believe that I am going to say the quote.
  9. Talking about books too much - If there is a book that I'm really into, I tell everyone about it and I think I annoy the heck out of all my friends and family (especially the non-readers).
  10. Taking the stuff in books too seriously - There have been multiple times that I have cried while reading a book and I just need to step back (partially because I can't see the pages through my tears) and tell myself to calm down and not take it so seriously.
